We are the first, we are the last,
at least that’s what we’re told and we like to think it’s so.
We tend to ignore all commands; they’re somewhere in between suggestion and mandate.
There is no point, there is no need
in taking on the burden, for sowing a seed,
at least that’s what we’re told and so it’s what we all concede.
We’ll fall together or we’ll fall apart,
‘cause changing minds is the hardest part.
We’ll fall together or we’ll fall apart;
to avert disaster would be just the start.
We are the first, we are the last,
all forsaking the future and disregarding the past.
We tend to dismiss warning signs as being other than the truth or a falsehood.
There is a point at which we see
that assuming the mantle is rejecting our greed,
at least that’s what we’re sold but ignorance is what we plead.
